B 012 Meniskus – meniscus torn cartilage

der Meniskus ist ein Knorpelring im Kniegelenk, der bei Verletzung operativ teilweise entfernt werden muss, da Knorpelgewebe sich nicht regenerieren kann. English: The knee joint is made up of three bones, the femur, tibia, and patella. The surfaces of these bones at the knee joint are covered with cartilage. This surface allows the bones to slide against each other without causing damage to the bone. The meniscus sits between the cartilage surfaces to distribute weight and to improve the stability of the joint. The two most common causes of a meniscus tear are due to traumatic injury (often seen in athletes) and degenerative processes . The most common mechanism of a traumatic meniscus tear occurs when the knee joint is bent and the knee is then twisted.

Show Name For My Gelding…….?

Hi there, I have a 4 year old (coming 5) pintabian gelding. (0.78% pinto). His name is Ozzie. His registered name is BG Skeena. He is 14.3hh, and jumps to 3’6" with room to spare. He is my 3 day eventer and also my hunter jumper. He is totally wicked. I would like you to help me find a show name for him.
Here are some that I like:
Crazy Train
Iron Man
Ozzfest
Mr. Osbourne
Dreamer
Paranoid
I would like for him to have a show name that has something to do with Ozzy Osbourne, but will take all suggestions into consideration.
Here are some videos of him:

Oh, and please dont critique my riding. It is very crappy right now because I am just coming back from a knee injury so I have to ride in whatever way feels comfortable, and often that is not the most pretty way :S

Why am I always hungry now?

I used to be very active but then a knee injury killed me from sports and mountain biking.

Recently I started working out to lose the very small amount of fat that I have built over 3 years of less activity…. now I’m in better shape than ever.

I’ve lost the little paunch i had but my hunger has been sky rocketing over the last couple weeks.

I am gaining significant definition all over following the workout program. I’m eating healthy foods.

I’ve been eating over 4000 calories in a day! and I’m still hungry. I drink tons of water, and milk, very little pop. I eat fast food on occasion. The majority of my meals are red meat, pork, or egg as the main part, always with grains and vegtables in large amounts.

I do not take any supplements just a daily vitamin, always have.

To put in it perspective, today I ate:

a 6 egg ham/onion/ cheese omelet with peanut butter on toast, and hour later a WHOLE BAG(750g) of noodles with cheese, and about 500ml of milk to drink. then for lunch a whole large pizza with almost everything on it. then for a snack a double big mac. Then my supper was a 1lb steak, with corn on the cob and garlic potatoes, and raw green onions. Throughout the day I always have a glass/ bottle of water in my hand. I also snacked on a large bag of grapes, and strawberry’s.

I’m still losing fat and majorly packing on muscle but this is getting me worried that I am always this hungry!
I’m going to say I don’t eat out of boredem, My stomach is growling a short time after I eat.

as far as too little fat in my diet i wouldnt say that is true either, the eggs, pizza and steaks i don’t think I would call low in fat.

I realize noodles and rice are digested quickly but I eat them just for the energy before the workout.

Is it the shoes or something else?

I took a day off running on Saturday (did a trip where it consisted of me walking for 2 hours), on Sunday I did my first 6 mile run ever (who hoo!!). By the end of that night, my knee felt locked up, can’t walk down the stairs without holding to the railing and keeping the leg straight. I pushed past it and did a run last night, I’ve iced it, I’ve heat padded it and it’s just the same.

Is it the shoes or something else. I did have a knee injury from when I was hit by a car (which is why I gave up running 7 yrs ago) and I’m hoping it’s not in relation to that bc I’ve just increased my mileage suddenly.

Any thoughts?

Don’t suggest doctor–bc I just cancelled the appt that I had for tommorrow (for an ulrelated thing)bc the guy is a dork and wouldn’t help anyway.
ugg–I hate when I typo!! I meant unrelated thing…

Medical development provides alternative to joint replacement. Briton Helen James, a patient in Birmingham, UK’s Good Hope Hospital is successfully recovered after a surgery using a recently developed procedure to re-grow and replace damaged knee cartilage. Called matrix-induced autologous chondrocyte implantation (MACI), the process involves the initial removal of a small sample of the patient’s own healthy cartilage, which is then cultivated in a lab to encourage its growth and then used to replace the damaged tissue. Because damaged cartilage in the body does not regenerate on its own, it is hoped that this pioneering technique can provide a less invasive and safer alternative following accidents or sports-related injuries, which in the past have often required complete replacement with artificial joints. The new procedure is now being tested with 144 patients across 7 European countries in a two-year clinical trial. Congratulations Ms. James on your regained mobility following this new procedure as we thank both the surgical team and scientists. May such a beneficial technology help to improve the quality of life for many others.

What discipline is my horse suitable for?

This is my 4 year old 99.22% arabian gelding. He is almost 15hh, and still growing. He is quiet, but forward moving over fences. I am trying to decide what his career should be. I was thinking either an eventer, or a hunter. I think he could do either. He has the worlds cutest canter :B
But anyways, here are some videos of him. I only have a small video of him cantering, and he had his head up because he was running into the wind. But atleast you kind of get the idea.
*-*Videos!

Oh, and P.S: Please ignore my bad position. I haven’t been able to ride all winter due to 4 feet of snow. Plus I am just coming off of a terrible knee injury that I had, where I tore up the tendons and muscles in my knees. Please keep that in mind!
Thanks!

Is 4000mg of Ibuprofen too much for a day?

I went to my doctor because of a knee injury and he said to take 800-1000mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours as needed. I weigh 218 pounds if it helps.

Well I noticed I have a wierd ‘rash’(If it even is a rash) on my left shoulder, It doesn’t hurt at all, the only way I can tell its their if is I see it in the mirror… so it doesn’t really bug me, but im starting to wonder what it is, im sure its not a birth mark because I didn’t have it a year ago

The best way I can describe it is ~8 ‘scars’ all in the same direction, like it looks like someone took a knife to my shoulder 8 times…its not raised or indented, its just ~8 red lines about 1-2 inches long

And im pretty sure its not from an injury, since I havn’t been able to do physical activity for almost 2 years because of a knee injury

But its not like, ruining my life with extreme pain, so its not that important, but if anyone knows, that would be nice

Jazz or Ballet? I am not quite sure…?

Alright, so I am in a bit of a pickle here. I have been in jazz for 3 years, and love it. When I was little I took one year of Ukrainian dancing, and one year of Ballet. I have really been wanting to attend ballet classes as well as jazz, but at my studio, we have a different teacher for ballet than jazz, and the teacher is not very good at all. Plus, each year we get a new ballet teacher because we can never find one that we like. and, to top it all off, you NEVER get to do pointe! No matter how advanced you are! Anyways… I found this really awesome ballet studio in the next town over. I really want to take ballet lessons there. And, you get to do pointe.
But, my mom says that I can only do one or the other, ballet or jazz, since I also ride and own 3 horses. And, we live on a farm, so we have to travel about 20 mins to get to the studio I am currently at. I really love jazz, and I love my teacher. She is the best! She is super funny, and I absolutely adore her! Haha, she is my jazz dancing idol! But, you only get a 45 minute class which leaves little room for stretching, so I have not become very flexible at all. Neither have any of the other girls in my group. But, at the ballet studio, their classes are 1 hour or MORE. That leaves lots of time for stretching. I really love my dance studio, and my teacher, and jazz dance, but I don’t feel like I am really good at jazz. In my first year, I got an award for most promising dancer ages 6-11. That was cool. I have just come off a knee injury that I got last summer, and have been dancing through the pain. But all of the high impact, high speed stuff of jazz has really taken a toll on my leg. I know that ballet is supposedly more intense and everything, but it looks like it would be a little better for me because it isn’t as fast, and there will be much less stress put on my knee from the impact of jumps and stuff. Anyways, sorry for making this so long! I have included some videos of me dancing… (jazz) and I really hope that you can help me with this dilema! Oh, and no, I cannot take time to think about it because we have to hand in our pre-registration forms for next year soon (for the studio I am currently at).
My first competition of the year. Got silver. Made lots of mistakes… I did wayyy better at my second festival, and we got gold. P.S: I am the one with the knee brace on my left leg. It is beige, and almost the same color as my tights. After a while the camera focuses in on me, I have brown hair and brown eyes.

My pirhouettes for jazz and ballet…

Thanks lilmisscutiepie, but I am thinking more of switching just for the sake of my leg. Any more answers?
