Cynthia: I have been a nurse since… Well I was a Home Health Aide in 1984. Suzanne: This is dating you now, you know, ha ha. Cynthia: Yes, I know. I’m old! Suzanne: So when you came to the clinic what happened, what did you come in for? What were your issues and what was your experience? Cynthia: Well my first issue, of many, was my neck. I’ve always had neck strain and knots in my neck that I’ve never been able to get out. I’ve had my neck MRI’d and X-Rayed and nothing is ever shown to be a problem but I still had pain. Suzanne: You couldn’t move. Cynthia: Yes, and I’ve been to a chiropractor and the adjustments have been good, but there was still the problems with the muscles in my neck. Suzanne: OK and what else? Neck and what else? Cynthia: I had a recurring knee injury. I was seeing a patient and I slipped on the ice and I had twisted my knee and so it was swollen. I didn’t get into the clinic here to see you, but I wanted to. So I finally got in here after icing it and elevating it for a long three days of suffering. I finally got in here and you worked on my knee and the swelling went down the next day and I was walking again. Thank God! Suzanne: And weren’t you suprised as a nurse at how quick? Cynthia: I really was. Yes. Absolutely. Suzanne: And so, if you were our viewers, what would you say …
For the past few months my knees have been hurting VERY badly during jogging, basket-ball or when I practiced my jumping.
At first it was only my left knee, then after a while my other knee started hurting too. Today we had a running test in gym for 40 minutes, At first when I started running all the joints in my legs started hurting(knees, ankles) then after like 15 min only my knees hurt. I barely got through the exam even though I wasn’t tired or sweating at all.
I thought it was probably a injury, overuse or something but my gym teacher assures me it’s because I am still growing.
Do you guys think you can help out?
BTW I am 16(almost 17) and I do all kinds of sports very intensively.
